As part of Okte’s annual fourth grade field trip to the capitol and Empire State Plaza in Albany, students did a walking tour of the plaza art collection with their art teacher, Mrs. Braglia. Art historians have called the collection “ “the greatest collection of modern American art in any single public site that is not a museum”. The students used school cameras to document their experience, which included art activities based on pieces in the collection.
Five Okte fourth graders received awards for their news articles, which will be published in the Student Gazette on May 22 as a supplement to the Gazette Newspaper.
Congratulations to Okte’s PTA Honorary Life recipients: Mrs. Suzanne McQuade, Mrs. Krista Knudsen and Mrs. Margo Crowther! Thank you for all of your contributions to the Okte community!
Okte students learn about Autism and how to be a good friend through a presentation by Puppets in Education!

Okte's Annual Monster Mash was the place to be on Friday! Children were given a passport to collect stamps through fun activities such as decorating a cookie or creating a pumpkin out of a plate. After collecting all of the stamps, a walk through the "hallway of horror" to the trick or treat trail resulted in a goody bag (complete with a toothbrush) to wind down the fun evening! Great job PTA!!
Okte was very fortunate to be part of the Ride for Missing Children event! Over 50 bicyclists rode for 100 miles throughout Albany and Saratoga counties to raise awareness and to promote personal safety tips with our students!
An Okte team of teachers, staff and families participated in the Autism Walk! It was a great event to raise awareness and to support our children with autism!
