Shenendehowa High School is comprised of two buildings: East and West. Both are located on the main campus of Shenendehowa. Students in grades 10-12 attend the East Building and students in grade 9 attend the West Building.

Congratulations to high school student Callie Schweitzer for winning first place in the logo contest for the Halfmoon Historical Society. Students in Shen's graphic design class competed against students from Halfmoon and Mechanicville school districts to design the new logo. All competing students were recognized at the town board meeting on Tuesday, June 3rd. Also from the same class, Matthew Moore was awarded second place and Mercedes McDonough, third. All of the designs are now being displayed at the town hall.

Shenendehowa High School will formally dedicate the art gallery located in the lobby of High School East on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 3:15pm. Members of the Class of 2014 are invited to attend as last year’s graduating class provided the financial support for the creation of the gallery.
In addition, shortly after the gallery dedication, guests will be invited to the Memorial Garden for the unveiling of a memorial stone for Hunter Cronin who passed away last year. Light refreshments will follow in the high school cafeteria. All Shenendehowa family and friends are invited to attend.

Shenendehowa High School is pleased to announce that this year’s valedictorian is Philip Sun and the salutatorian is Nadia Suguitan.
Philip Sun has been involved in many activities in and out of school. These have included: Math Team, Science Bowl and Robotics at school. In the community, Philip has done research at RPI on algorithms and taught math at the Chinese Community Center. Philip will be studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall.
Nadia Suguitan has been a member of the French Club, Key Club, Science Club and the Math Team. She also ran track and played varsity tennis for five years. She will attend SUNY Polytechnic Institute, College of Nanoscale and Engineering in September.

Shen Robotics Team 20 competed at the World Championships in St. Louis. The 600 teams were broken into 8 divisions. Team 20 played in the Carson division. There were qualifying rounds followed by playoffs. Team 20 was picked to play in the playoffs by the second seeded team. The alliance made it past quarter finals, semi-finals, and went to win the finals in a best-of-three-match show down. The next step was Championship matches between winning alliances from each of the 8 divisions. The Team 20 alliance did not win at this level, but they were proud to compete on Einstein field (the name of the field for Championship matches). This has been one of their goals for many years. The team brought home a large trophy for their efforts at the division level.

High school Math Team members Jerry Qu and Philip Sun finished in the top 99.9% of the nation at the national MathCon contest and were invited to participate in the next round of the tournament against the top 700 contestants in the country held in Chicago. Maya Dorn and Nadia Suguitan finished high enough to qualify as alternates. Congratulations to all Math Team participants including Piere Fabris, JinJie Chen, XiuRui Lin, Josh Sangaline, and Sara Feinland!

2015 March Madness

The high school selected their winners from the March Madness program from a raffle. The program is designed to highlight students’ positive behavior during the month of March. Each high school staff member has been given ten March Madness coupons to distribute to students who live out the characteristics of the Profile of a Shen Graduate or the values and beliefs of the school community. Students then enter their coupon for a weekly raffle of prizes on Fridays, during March, that include gift cards and free food. Click here to see the winners.

HS East technology students entered 10 bridges in the 35th annual balsa wood bridge competition during engineering week at the Albany Marriot.  One took 2nd place in aesthetics (Keith Grable and Mike McCann) and another 5th place in strength (Jacob Szwarcberg, Nick Campana and Nathan Fankhanel) Congratulations.

Shen student Lynelle Freeman has been named a finalist in the 2015 National Achievement Scholarship Program. Lynelle is one of 160,000 students nation-wide who entered the program that recognizes outstanding Black American high school students. She is one of 1,300 Finalists. German and American students participating in this year's German-American Partnership Program (GAPP) exchange. German students and teachers spent two weeks living with Shen families and visiting our area and classes. Shen students spent two weeks traveling to Prague, throughout Germany, and to Maastricht, Holland. Students, families and teachers have formed crucial bonds and deepened their cultural and language skills immensely.

Students in the National Issues Forum classes organized and ran a Book Drive to collect children’s books for the Ben Osborn Fund, a memorial fund founded in memory of CPL Ben Osborn who was killed in Afghanistan, June 15, 2010, while serving in the United States Army during Operation Enduring Freedom. Tickets are FREE and available during all lunch periods in HSE and HSW from October 14th through October 17th. Members from Shen's National Art Honor Society (Maia Loy, Margaux Hales, Carly Jacob, Emma Fishbein, and Rhea Mundra) painted approximately 50 faces of aspiring zombies at Leah’s Cakery in Round Lake. The annual Zombie Walk is a fundraiser for the local food pantries. Zombies of all ages set about the village and collect bags of food from all the porches. Congratulations to Shen H.S. students Taylor Abbitt and Jacob O'Shea on their selection to the NAFME All-National Music Festival. Jacob and Taylor were selected for the Chorus and orchestra (respectively) out of thousands of students across the United States. This is one of the highest honors ensembles a student can reach.
