Daily Materials Needed

      All students will need a "Good Fit Book" and a healthy snack and water bottle everyday. As a reminder from our school nurse, we have children with severe nut allergies so be sure not to bring in any foods that contain nuts of any kind (peanuts or tree nuts).Thank you.

Language Arts-Daily 5

Spelling

Pretest on Monday and Test on Friday.

DOL week 28-

Students have been scoring their daily work and should bring them home to share with you.  Please encourage them to explain why they made the editing changes for each day.

Assessment #14 Monday June 10th

 Reading

 During our Daily 5 we are learning strategies to help us become strong  readers.  We are also building our stamina. Our Good Fit Book logs are to be filled out every day. Your child should be reading 20 minutes Monday through Thursday and once on the weekend. Your support is greatly appreciated and will lead to a successful reading experience for your child.

Math

We will continue with our study of Line Plots and graphing

Please ask to see your child's most recent fractions packet. 

 If you know your child is still struggling with their math facts please work with them at home.  This chapter relies on a student's automatic recall of his math facts.  You can use some of the great websites that can be found on the Arongen computer page for 5th grade.

We are stressing speed and accuracy. They should be able to tell you the answer automatically.  "Know your facts like you know your own name."

 Students may earn 5 bonus points by completing the online practice test.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and complete the assessment.

Social Studies-

We are working in our "Discovery Boxes" to learn about Canada.

Please ask your child to share what they have "discovered" about Canada.  Each child will work through the SS strands of Geography, Economy, History and Government. 

Mrs. Bruno gave us passwords to access the Grolier site.

Science- 

We will continue our study of Heat and Change.

There will be a quiz on States of Matter on Monday June 10th
