Announcements:
School will not be in session on Thursday, October 9th.
Camp Chingachgook money is due Friday, October 10th. Thank you to all the parents that signed up to chaperone. We had an overwhelming response this year. The parent chaperone meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 16th @ 7:00PM in room 223. A reminder will come home on Wednesday, October 15th.
Beginning Wednesday, our new school hours will be 7:55 - 2:15.
Our first reinforcer will be Friday, October 10th. We will be going to Collins Park from 11 until 2. Students who have earned the privilege to go, will need to bring a bag lunch. Letters explaining the trip to Collins Park, and the permission slip will be coming home on Monday October 6th. All permission slips must be returned by Wednesday, October 8th.
Friday, October 10th will be school spirit day. Wear a crazy hat, and an Arongen shirt to show your school spirit!
Band and orchestra lessons have begun. Please remind your child to bring their instrument to school on the day they are scheduled for a lesson. Also, please remind your child that they are responsible for the work they miss while at their lesson. They should check with me for directions and assignments.
The PTA fundraiser has been sent home. The proceeds are used to fund the Arts in Education Programs. The orders and money are due October 14th. The products will be delivered in November, just prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. The items will be available in the Rotunda Area from 2:00 - 6:30. This is a one day only pickup due to the items being frozen.
Language Arts: Theme 1 - "Look Inside", Week 5
Spelling - Words with /s/, /z/, /sh/. Post test on Friday.
English - Complete Subject and Predicate. Quiz on Friday
Reading - We will not be reading the story in the Trophies book this week. Therefore, there will not be a reading selection test on Friday. We will be starting a novel this week called: The War With Grandpa.
Writing - We are continuing to work on our writing skills. We will be starting a new piece, "small moments". I have collected most final copies from our first piece.
Math - This week we will begin Chapter 5 - Algebra: Use Addition. We will study Expressions, Equations, Variables, and Addition Properties. We will cover pages 68 - 77.
Science - The science quiz is on Monday. The quiz will be on the following: Temperature, Elapsed Time, Customary Weight, Metric Mass, and Angles. Please have your child study the boiling and freezing points of water at Fahrenheit and Celsius. They do not have to memorize any of the conversion charts. I will provide that information for them.
Social Studies - The Government test will be Friday, October 10th. The DBQ essay for November 16, 2006 practice test, was assigned today. The children have a paper that outlines the Historical Background, and Key Ideas from the Documents. They are to write a 4 paragraph essay using the information on the paper, and the information from the 7 documents we went over in class today. This essay is due next Friday, the 10th.
