.08 Don't blow it. - STOP DWI New York

 In 2001 there were 315 drinking and driving deaths in New York State.

Nationally, three out of 10 people will be in an alcohol-related crash in their lifetimes.  Nationally, drunk drivers cause more than 16,000 deaths annually - 310 funerals each week - One death every 30 minutes - An injury every 2 minutes.

The price you pay for DWI:  Up to $15,000 in legal fees, fines and insurance increases - Loss of license - Jail time - A criminal record - Possible job loss (Commercial Drivers) and other employers - Possible law suit - Living with the guilt if you killing someone and going to prison for 7 years after being convicted of Vehicular Manslaughter (Felony) - And the list goes on and on.

Penalties for minors - Drivers under age 21 convicted of driving with a BAC of 0.02% or more can be fined, required to complete community service, and lose their driving privileges for 1 year or until age 21, whichever is longer.

Penalties for adults  1st DWI Offense - Jail Sentence up to 1 year - $500-$1,000 fine, plus other fees - Minimum 6 month license suspension - Alcohol treatment, restitution to victims, and community services.

Penalties for adults 2nd DWI Offense within 10 years - (Felony) - Jail Sentence up to 4 years - $1,000 - $5,000 fine, plus fees - License revocation for 1 year minimum (Ineligible for restricted privileges) - Alcohol treatment, restitution to victims, and community services.

Please be responsible, know your limits and remember only time can make you sober. The more you drink the longer it will take for you to sober up.  attend the nearest 6-hour minimum course and save 10% on motor vehicle insurance liability and collision costs, May reduce up to four points on your driving record and most importantly become a safer driver.  Points  remain on  your driving record for 18 months from the date of the violation.
