STUDY SESSION
2008-2009 District Goals Overview
Dr. Robinson noted some changes/additions to the 2008-09 District Goals and Objectives document (Page 20, #3 added, Page 13, last line added). He reported that some verbiage has been improved but nothing that changes the content of the document. He wants to have a clear alignment of the educational levels to develop consistency. Following his presentation, he addressed questions and comments from the Board of Education.
(The following two items on the agenda were flip-flopped to accommodate those making the presentations.)
Construction Update (Existing & Proposed)
Mr. August Freemann, Construction Manager, reported that the construction of the pool is coming along fine and the pool will be ready for September 2009. There will be a “trial period” before the pool is officially opened to make certain all aspects are operational. At this time Dr. Robinson asked that the Board of Education schedule a walk-thru of the pool for September 9 at 6:30 p.m. prior to the regularly scheduled business meeting.
Dr. Robinson asked that Mr. Freemann comment on the progress of the track. Mr. Freemann reported that initial cost estimates of the project began to exceed our budget. However, we do not want to change the scope. The concession stand bathroom area was reviewed closely. A smaller space was designed – the functionality and number of stalls is still there. The project is on target and we hope to have State approval in late fall with bidding occurring in the first of the year. To further maximize the budget, we will be looking to have the concession stand handled by a smaller contractor as a separate component of the overall project. We hope to have this project under construction by late spring.
2007-2008 End-of-Year Financial Report
Ms. Wetmore reviewed the 2007-08 Year-End Financial Report provided to the Board of Education for its review. (A copy of this report is one file in the official minutes folder.)
2. Action Items
a. Year-End Financial Transfers
and Budget Amendments for Close-Outs
MOTION BY Mr. Casey, seconded by Mr. DiLallo, that the Board of Education approve the increases in the Tax Certiorari Reserve and the Workers Compensation Reserve in the amount of $743,000 and $41,203, respectively and approve the equity transfer totaling $2,401.78 from the Bus Purchase Fund to the Debt Service Fund as required by law.
Unanimously approved, motion carried.
b. Adoption of 2008-2009
District Goals & Objectives
MOTION BY Mr. Casey, seconded by Mrs. Blaauboer, that the Board of Education approve the 2008-09 District Goals and Objectives as presented this evening. (A copy of this document is on file in the official minutes folder.)
Unanimously approved, motion carried.
c. Staffing
Dr. Dutkowsky reported that hiring has been completed for the school year and he commented on the change in status for several special education administrators. A correction will be made on Page 5, Item H.1)b. The date listed for Lisa Mickle should be from 9/2/08 – 6/30/09.
MOTION BY Mr. DiLallo, seconded by Mrs. Bowles, that the Board of Education approve the staffing recommendations with the correction as presented by Dr. Dutkowsky, as follows:
