Study Session

January 27, 2009

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:

Mrs. Blaauboer, Mrs. Bowles, Mr. Casey, Mr. DiLallo,
Mrs. Grey, Mr. Mincher, Mrs. Wiggins

OTHERS PRESENT:

Dr. Dutkowsky, Dr. Robinson, Dr. Snyder, Ms. Wetmore

 

The Study Session of the Board of Education was called to order at 6 p.m.

 

MOTION BY Mr. DiLallo, seconded by Mr. Mincher, to convene to Executive Session at 6 p.m. 

 

Unanimously approved, motion carried.

 

Discussion was held regarding the evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Oliver Robinson.  Dr. Robinson was not in attendance.  At 6:35, Dr. Robinson, Dr. Snyder, Dr. Dutkowsky, and Ms. Wetmore joined the Board to discuss negotiations and other personnel related matters.

 

MOTION BY Mr. Casey, seconded by Mrs. Bowles, to return to the Study Session at 7 p.m. 

 

Mrs. Grey called the Study Session to order at 7:02 p.m.

 

Mrs. Grey led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Mrs. Grey pointed out the exits from the meeting room. 

 

1.   ADOPT AN AGENDA

 

MOTION BY Mrs. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. DiLallo, to adopt the agenda as presented.

 

Unanimously approved, motion carried.

 

 

2.   BOARD COMMENTS/REPORTS

 

Mrs. Grey expressed the gratitude of the Board to Assemblyman Reilly and Senator Roy McDonald for meeting with representatives of the District.  She also summarized the Board’s response to a letter received by all members of the Board for Supervisor Phil Barrett.  A copy of the letter was distributed to all members of the Board and submitted for the official records. 

 

 

Mrs. Grey also acknowledged the memorial service for Shenendehowa LOTE teacher Gail Munson.

 

Mrs. Wiggins and Mr. DiLallo offered congratulatory comments about Dr. Robinson’s speech at the Martin Luther King Observance Ceremony.  Mrs. Wiggins also expressed her appreciation of the Martin Luther King presentation by the Okte fourth grade class.

 

 

STUDY SESSION PRESENTATIONS

 

 

The Board expressed tremendous enthusiasm about the quality of work afoot as indicative by the presentations.  Mrs. Grey summarized the common sentiments of the Board by noting that the respective presentations were illustrative of the culmination of a vision for quality schools being realized.

 

(The Renzulli Model Update was postponed due to technical difficulties and will be rescheduled.)

 

3.   ADJOURNMENT

 

MOTION BY Mr. Casey, seconded by Mrs. Bowles, to adjourn the meeting at 8:21 p.m.

 

Unanimously approved, motion carried.
