READING
We will be reading stories this year from a book called Trophies. We will also be reading literature books and you will be writing letters to me about your books. The first books you will read will be about owls. During the school year, you will also be reading books in Literature Circles. You will enjoy reading in fourth grade!
Spelling and Grammar
Each week there will be a pretest on the basic words in spelling. If you get all the words correct, you will only have to learn the challenge words that week.
In grammar, we will be using a language handbook.
Writing
We will be doing a lot of writing in fourth grade. You will use a writer's notebook to record your great ideas. You will use these ideas to help you write stories, poems and essays. Our first writing unit will be memoir. You will be making a booklet about a special memory.
