Through dedicated volunteerism and fundraising, UNICEF club members raised over $1300 for UNICEF USA. These funds will support children in need around the globe.

The High School Partnership Team (HSPT) planned and coordinated a Week of Giving in April. The week was a great success! Throughout the week we saw students, faculty, staff, administration, parents, and community members come together to give back in a host of different ways!

Students from the technology department participated in the 36th annual programming contest on Friday, April 12th at Siena College.
Chango celebrated our neurodiverse learners this past month and “Minds of All Kinds”. Each student colored in their brain to match their strengths and interests to celebrate our diverse learning styles here at Chango.
Orenda 4th grade teachers kick off the next Wit & Wisdom unit of study based on the American revolution in style, and implement taxes on the Patriots and Loyalist.
HSE hosted a Job fair for the students.
Tri-building Middle School students in Mrs. Clermont’s Accelerated Art Class design and create a dragon head for display in the Gowana Library.

Some NJHS students represented Koda and volunteered at the Regional Food Bank.
The Arongen Kindness Club consisting of 4th and 5th graders cheered on the 3rd graders during school arrival for their first ever NYS Test!
The Chango Cheetah’s new drama club was directed by Chango graduate Molly Hurley to produce a rousing song from MATILDA.
Arongen Elementary recently celebrated their third annual Cultural Awareness Celebration. The Arongen Student Council plans, promotes, and organizes the materials to encourage all classrooms to participate in celebrating their diverse student body.
Mrs. Russell’s first graders researched and then wrote All About Macaw books.
Four seniors from the National Art Honor Society painted a cedar tree on a large canvas for the Student Center (click to read more).
Our 20th annual Shenendehowa Jazz Festival is on Thursday, April 18 at 6:30pm in the HSE Auditorium and will feature all Middle and High School Jazz groups performing alongside world renowned saxophonist, Dr. Jimmy Greene! We hope to see you there!

Shen Physical Education teachers had the privilege of teaching at a P.E. Conference for the local Capital Zone NYS AHPERD conference.
Athletes and Coaches from the Special Olympics Bronze Medal FloorBall team visited our Middle School Unified PE class.
Will it fit? Rock Travis’ grade 8, tri-building DDE class helped out with Nicole Saville’s and Tara Fear’s Future Ready Furniture Grant. The students were given room and furniture dimensions and used Autodesk Fusion 360, Google Docs and the laser engraver to create “to scale models” of the classrooms.
Mr. Szeli’s 2nd graders at Chango were able to join a google meet with one of their classmates who was traveling with their family in South Africa. While asking them questions, they were even able to see elephants in the background!

Mr. Symonds 8th grade classes visited the house construction class at HSE to see the progress. They are currently completing a Trades in Construction unit and were measuring for square footage averages.
