A. Shen school buses do not have cameras that detect when cars pass their red lights and stop sign when picking up and discharging passengers. There is no New York State law that allows these cameras to be used to enforce the illegal passing. New York Association for Pupil Transportation (NYAPT) which represents School Transportation professionals across our state, has for years been trying to get state lawmakers to pass a law to allow “Stop Arm” cameras to be on buses and to allow, through a third party, the issuance of traffic citations and fines.
