- Okte and Chango students visited Arongen to visit with “Bad Kitty” author and Illustrator, Nick Bruel. Thanks to Northshire Books and the Shen Librarians for setting up the special visit.
- Okte’s 4th grade played the Hudson River Trading Game. Pairs of students sailed a model sloop up and down the Hudson River game board. Historic Cherry Hill Museum in Albany provided all the learning materials and helped to guide the students through their learning journey.
- Students from Mr. D’Ambro’s 3rd grade class participated in STEM activities with QUEST teacher Mrs. McElhinney.
- 27 elementary teams participated in our 3rd annual FLL Explore Festival.
- Okte had 8 teams in the Final Lego League Festival
- Mr. D’Ambro’s Class at Okte paid a visit to the Via Aquarium. Reminded us so much about our reading work with our new Wit and Wisdom reading series.
- Okte celebrated Veterans Day!
- Okte’s Best Buddies participated in the Table or Treat event this weekend. They made slime, had pumpkin volcano eruptions and trick or treated through the hallways!

Welcome to Okte Elementary School
Located in the southern part of the district, Okte Elementary School is one of four off-campus schools. It opened in 1973.
Mission:
We envision a school in which staff, students and community:
- focus on what we expect all students to learn, examine how we will know if they have learned it and know how we will respond if students have/have not learned.

Start & Dismissal Times:
School starts at 9:05 a.m.
AM Kindergarten dismissed at 11:40 a.m.
PM Kindergarten starts at 12:40 p.m.
School is dismissed at 3:15 p.m.
Half day dismissal at 12:15 p.m.
