Over the past few weeks, our third graders at Shatekon dove into the fascinating world of neuroscience as part of their Second Step Growth Mindset curriculum, paired with the MindUP program. Students explored how key parts of the brain— the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex—work together to help us learn, regulate emotions, and solve problems.
Through hands-on activities, students not only gained a deeper understanding of the brain’s functions but also created their own brain models to bring these concepts to life. To share their newfound knowledge, they designed vibrant posters and proudly displayed them at school, spreading insights about brain science to their peers.
This engaging project not only fostered curiosity about how our brains work but also reinforced the importance of a growth mindset in learning and personal development. Well done, Shatekon third graders!
