Championship Stats

Shen offers a variety of interscholastic athletic opportunities for boys and girls with four levels of competition: Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman and Modified. There are three seasons in athletics: Fall, Winter and Spring.

Shenendehowa has top notch facilities that include a synthetic turf field, fitness center and weight room, aquatic center and numerous gyms and fields for athletic competition.

Spectator Courtesy Code

It is the belief that good sportsmanship on the part of spectators at high school athletic contests is as important as good sportsmanship on the part of the players. The following guidelines for spectator conduct are expected as a means of continuing and strengthening the ties that exist between competing schools. Spectators are encouraged to be actively involved in positive behaviors that promote enthusiastic support for our interscholastic teams. Spectators should cheer for our teams rather than against others. Discourteous or unsportsmanlike behaviors are unacceptable. No spectator should be involved in any of the following actions:

  • No one shall throw any object on to the playing surface. This action is equally dangerous to Shen athletes, other participants and spectators.
  • No one shall use unacceptable language when cheering or engage in any cheer that is demeaning to a team or an individual (players, coaches, referees, or other spectators)
  • No sound producing devices shall be used. This includes horns of any type, whistles, drums, etc.
Attendance expectations for athletic events
Over the past several athletic seasons, a growing number of elementary and middle school students have attended our athletic contests unsupervised. Unfortunately, there have been more and more incidents of misconduct and inappropriate behavior by these students while attending the contests. Students as young as fourth grade are dropped off prior to the game and then picked up after the game has concluded. This has been particularly noticeable at home football games, held at night. where as many as 2,500 people may attend. While the school district has numerous chaperones to supervise the games. we have become increasingly concerned about the safety of our elementary and middle school aged students. To be proactive and protective, we have changed our athletic attendance policies for all evening/night contests for all sport contests held at Shenendehowa High School. 
Please be advised:
1. Middle school and elementary school students will be allowed to attend home evening/night contests only when an adult chaperone attends the game with them and maintains responsibility for their safety and behavior. 
2 Children who arrive at the gate or door without an adult will be held there until an adult can arrive to pick them up to take them home or attend the athletic contest with them. 
3. High School students may enter the game without an adult. However, they must be prepared to show proper identification if a staff member requests it. 
We believe that this practice will help to ensure that our school facilities and activities are a safe and healthy place for everyone to use and enjoy. If we work together, we will be able to model for our younger students the appropriate behaviors and expectations we have for the Shenendehowa school community.
