How does one get a new student ID at west?
A. If a student loses their school ID, they can request a new one from the main office. Please note that it takes some time for replacement IDs to be made.
What is Shen going to do with the hundreds of Chromebooks that current eight graders have when they move to high school since they’re all getting new ones?
A. Many will be used as loaners in the Chromebook Care Centers and the High School Student Helpdesk. Others will be used to replace devices in other buildings that may be damaged beyond repair.
This is in regards to your response about the dress code. You said, “Keep in mind that boy’s…have to wear shirts to cover their body as well.” The boys on the track/cross country team routinely run wearing only shorts and shoes. The girls are expressly forbidden from wearing only shorts, shoes, and a sports bra. Is seeing the midsection of a girl different than seeing the midsection of a boy? We teach our kids that the same rules apply to all, when their actual experience shows otherwise.
A. Athletes on the boys cross country/track team are expected to be wearing shirts when representing themselves as members of the team.
Can i use my locker neighbors old locker to store my own stuff? They moved away and told me the combo so i could use it(middle school)
A. You are only authorized to use the locker that has been assigned to you.
How does a parent or child sign up for summer school? Is there busing for these students or is it up to the parent to bring them and pick them up?
A. Parents come into the building to register their students. School counselors are in contact with parents/students that are in need of summer school. We do have busing that picks up at various bus stops around the district.
Here’s an idea: How about instead of teaching girls to cover up their bodies because it might distract boys, teach boys to be decent human beings and control themselves. If someone in the school can’t handle seeing a bra strap or a belly button without freaking out, that is their own fault. Dress codes teach underage girls that their bodies are inherently sexual, and that rather than wearing what is comfortable for them (especially when it’s hot outside), they should cover up so as not to disrupt the learning process of some out of control teenage boys. I am sixteen years old. The sexualization of my body isn’t my fault. It’s the fault of whoever failed to teach these people to be respectful and decent to women. Just a thought as we head into the summer season.
A. Keep in mind that boy’s undergarments are not allowed r to show and they have to wear shirts to cover their body as well. Boys would also not be allowed to wear really short shorts either.

Can you use your phone at the high schools?
A. In general, yes. If in a class, it is at the discretion of the teacher.
Why do teachers have to switch between classrooms at HSE so often? Also, why is there not a series of classrooms in each hallway dedicated to one subject? In one of my classrooms, throughout the day there is a Social Studies, German, and Spanish class in the same room.
A. Many factors are taken into account for room assignments.
