Hi, in Gowana today the social-studies teachers had to show a presentation on cyber-bullying. It said one of the bad things to do was to say things that were “Hate Speech”. It should not be included in the presentation because that is a very controversial topic. Tell me, what DEFINES “Hate Speech”? You can’t answer that for everyone because some people think somethings are hateful while others do not. Also, this was not brought up in the presentation, but isn’t a simple solution to this just to block the person in question?
A. Hate speech is speech that attacks a person or group on the basis of attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
I do not understand why there is a policy that allows people to not stand for the pledge. This is extremely disrespectful to the country. Just because you “don’t like D.Trump” doesn’t make it OK to disrespect the entire country. You guys have a code of conduct for tolerance and such, but not for disrespecting the country?
A. It is not a policy, it is law. In 1943, the Supreme Court ruled that requiring the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments.
why does shen never cancel sports when it’s 105 outside and not safe for anyone to be outside for over 10 minutes? that’s so unsafe and ridiculous to put children’s safety at risk. safety is not first in this situation.

Can 9th graders in HSW carry their backpacks around or do they have to stay in their lockers?
A. Students at HSW are to store their backpack in their locker upon their arrival and it is to remain there until their departure. Students that need to keep their bags with them throughout the school day due to a particular health need are to see the school nurse to obtain permission to do so.
Is there any way to print out report cards from previous years?
A. No, they are no longer available after the new year starts. If you need a prior year, you must contact your child’s school.
How do I change the Email my SIS messages are going to? Every year I try to change it and it never gets done. I no longer have access to that old email account. Thank you.
