1/28/22 – Why, if none of the Language Departments are allowed to do international travel in the 21-22 school year, is the Science Department still allowing the trip to Belize during Feb. 2022? – Parent

A. With all the international trip cancellations in 2020 and 2021, this trip between the Science Department and LOTE Department, together, re-applied for this 2022 trip and was approved. High School Science and Spanish students are participating. If you have further questions, please contact the Deputy Superintendent’s Office at 518-881-0640.

1/24/22 – Will the school be providing sport physicals for Spring sport clearance? My doctor is booked until May 2022. – Marlene Sweet, Parent

A. We will not. Athletics only provided physicals during the summer and this has been suspended the past two years due to COVID. Please contact the Athletic Training office for assistance at 518-881-0600 ext. 61588.

1/21/22 – Why are some Regents such as Global in January vs. June the end of the year? And if January exams were canceled, does that mean students won’t be taking a Global Regents? – Parent

1/19/22 – What age can you drive a bus? – Student

A. New York State bus drivers must be 18 years of age. Bus drivers that drive interstate must be at least 21 years of age.

1/18/22 – If I have the Google Classroom app on my phone or am signed into my Shen email on my phone, can the software that has been deployed view my phone screen? – Student

A. If students are accessing their Shen account on a personal Apple iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet, their device cannot be filtered.

1/18/22 – Has Shen ever considered doing the “Test Drive A Bus” event on a weekend or later in the afternoon? I know many interested people who cannot go during the morning during a weekday. There may be better attendance and outcomes from an off-time event. – Community Member

A. Transportation has considered an event later in the day but decided against it because of the amount of traffic on campus. As a department, we will look at a weekend event in the near term since there is interest. Staff could also do a one-on-one Test Drive if they would like to call us. […]
