To highlight the contributions African Americans have made and continue to make on children’s literature, Karigon Principal Mr. Jones visits Ms. Paupini’s 3rd grade class to read the inspirational story: “Gunner, Football Hero,” written and illustrated by James Ransome.
Why does SHEN-BYOD wifi need registration every time the device connected to the wifi either turns off or disconnects? I just am asking why it cannot be just able to connect automatically instead of doing the registration once manually and not needing to manually connect again.
A. Whenever a device is disconnected from SHEN-BYOD it must authenticate before reconnecting. We suggest saving your username/password to make it easier. With that said, each device must authenticate to connect to SHEN-BYOD.
Is there an expectation for high school teachers to update the portal with grades in a timely manner? Or is it acceptable for them to post multiple grades after the view has been turned off for the quarter?
A. Yes, grades are generally updated in a timely fashion. There are, however, many factors that could impact updating grades. Should there be specific questions, please reach out to the teacher.
Why can’t I see any question past November 23, 2020? Isn’t there a “more” page? Why not?
A. You can view Grapevine archives along the right sidebar (towards the top right of the page) on the Grapevine homepage.
Can you put the COVID delay/early release bell schedule in a link with the other schedules or the delay information?
A. All delay schedules have been updated on the school schedules page (https://www.shenet.org/about-us/school-schedules/).
There were recently two positive covid cases in Y-Time at one of the elementary schools, causing many students to quarantine. Nothing was posted about these positive cases either in the reporting of COVID notifications. Y-time may not be part of the school system, but the way they allow the students to literally sit on top of each other and touch each other impacts the school when those students leave Y-time and enter their classrooms. Taking temperatures apparently is not going to stop COVID cases from spreading. Has Shen given any thought to how Y-time is run?
A. The Y-time program is run and operated by the YMCA. They have protocols and mandates that they must adhere to per New York State Department Of Health (NYSDOH).
