Safety, Health and Wellness
At Shen, we recognize the value and importance of the health, safety and well-being of every student in the district and we are committed to fostering an atmosphere that supports it.
The district provides a comprehensive health, safety and wellness plan that includes the following components:
Student Health and Wellness
A broad array of health services and mental health services: school nurses, counselors and psychologists in every buildings; Social workers, athletic trainer, and behavior specialists on staff; and contracted services with a school physician and mental health services. There are AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) in every building per regulation and staff is trained in the use of AEDs and CPR.

School Safety
An extensive safety and security program in compliance with the SAVE (Schools Against Violence in Education) legislation that includes threat assessment, a comprehensive program for drills including mass evacuation, fire, bus evacuation, active shooter, etc. If you see something, say something! DASA
DASA (Dignity for all Students) – It provides that no student shall be subjected to discrimination based on his or her actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, weight, sexual orientation, sexual identity, or sex. DASA explicitly states that the harassment is the creation of a hostile environment through bullying, taunting and intimidation.
