Are you allowed to wear hats in High School West?
A. Yes, students may wear hats in the halls as long as it abides by the dress code. However, faculty and staff have the authority within their classrooms to require students to remove non-religious or non-medical headgear.
Does Shen offer archery in the high school? I’m going into East next year. I noticed last year we did a one day archery “unit” but I was wondering if we ever do a true archery unit or if there are any after school options for this. If not, is it possible to set one up? Thanks!
A. Physical Education will do archery as a unit in the Fall.
Has Shen considered supplying free femine supplies in the bathrooms at Shen? It is difficult and stressful for girls to carry these supplies with them during the day.
A. No, by law we cannot supply free consumable, personal products.
Has Shen ever considered acknowledging the top 20 or top 30 instead of only the valedictorian and the salutatorian?
A. We have for years. All students receiving a medal for a GPA of 95 or higher are asked to stand at graduation when their name is called.
What’s the difference between principle of chemistry and ps/regents chemistry

Where would I find a HSE building floor plan?
A. We have been told by law enforcement to not to publish our building maps online. Students can pick them up in the main office.
How and when do children who are interested in the BOCES programs such as culinary or cosmetology get information about this? Also, if my nine grader was put in studio arts fine arts will they be able to get into multi media arts classes in the future during high school or will they be limited to the craft or fine arts?
A. Student learn about BOCES programs during the scheduling process. As far as course progressions, your child need to discuss with his/her counselor.
Does Shen have a glee club?
A. No.
